Chisholm leads Mid Sussex on Trophy Run

Pete Chisholm - Mid Sussex Team Manager

Last night saw Mid Sussex continue their successful start to this season’s English Schools’ FA U15 Inter Association Trophy, by overcoming North Kent 3-1 at Hassocks Football Club.

The Sussex outfit went a goal behind after a quick start from North Kent Schoolboys. However, two strikes from Peter Martin put the Sussex side in control leading into the break. A further goal from Nick Phelan after the interval secured the win.

A delighted Pete Chisholm, team manager for Mid Sussex and England U18 Schoolboys, said, "This is a fantastic result for Mid Sussex, it’s the first time we’ve reached the fourth round for 25 years."

Redditch had similar success last night as they travelled to The Dell to take on Brierley Hill & Dudley under lights. Redditch ran out 3-1 winners, despite going in a goal down at half time, thanks to three second half goals from Adam Taylor, Joe Watts and Edward Green.

A 300 mile plus round trip didn’t seem to deter Ipswich and South Suffolk as they travelled to Staffordshire to take on Cannock at Great Wyrley FC. Despite a slow start from the visitors, which saw them slip two goals behind, they showed great character and spirit to fight back to an impressive 3-2 victory. A performance that upheld the great tradition of this competition, which has witnessed some fantastic cup-ties over the last 100 years.
